Your first daily dive

  1. Open today’s game. Play in a modern browser on your phone, tablet, or computer. You do not need an account or an app download.
  2. Read the whole prompt. You get three seconds to preview the question, followed by a 25-second answer window. Look closely at the team, era, or achievement it asks for.
  3. Type one answer that fits. There are no multiple-choice options. An accepted answer locks the round. A less familiar valid player can earn more points than a star.
  4. Review and continue. The clock stops between rounds. You can inspect accepted answers and their rarity after the round before moving on.
  5. Finish all seven prompts. See your score, frozen depth, and position among actual daily finishers. Share the colored result without spoiling the answers.

What kind of hockey questions?

Prompts draw on all-time NHL history: players who wore particular sweaters, draft and career connections, player identities, trophies, and milestones. Each daily set mixes four connection or identity prompts, two achievement prompts, and one broad category.

Read each condition carefully. For example, playing for a team is different from being drafted by it. Regular-season milestones do not include playoff totals.

Correct first. Rare second.

A rare name still has to meet the question. Think of a valid answer first, then decide whether you know a less obvious one. There is no speed bonus, so you can use the answer window to think.

Six tiers award 10 to 100 points. A pass or timeout earns zero for that round. See every scoring tier and how rankings work.

Daily game questions

When does ThinkPuck reset?

A new shared daily set arrives at midnight in the America/Los_Angeles time zone (Pacific time), including daylight-saving changes. The game displays a countdown to the next reset.

Can I replay today’s game?

You get one daily attempt per browser identifier. A completed dive is locked. Unfinished games resume where you left off; refreshing does not grant a new attempt or reset an active timer.

What happens if I misspell a player?

Common aliases, accents, and unambiguous surnames are supported. Close spellings can produce a suggestion. Confirm the suggested answer before time expires. An unrecognized name costs time, not points.

Can I compare with friends?

Everyone gets the same questions that day. Send your result to a friend and compare scores after both of you finish. ThinkPuck is a single-player daily game, rather than a live multiplayer match.

Is it free?

Yes. The daily game is free, and no player account is required. Your browser’s anonymous identifier saves your attempt.
